Don’t Let Us Get You Down: Women Writers Respond to Bad Times

In a world full of uncertainties, we look to books for many different reasons: to understand the past, to make plans, and to imagine the future. Women Behaving Strongly: Women Writing Outside Traditional Literary Roles

Women have been breaking from tradition for decades, yet the number of women writers who defy age-old literary traditions is marginal. Three authors, Cynthia Kraack, Pam Leonard, and Gary Lindberg, whose strong female characters break through literary tradition will address these issues in “WOMEN BEHAVING STRONGLY: Women Writing Outside Traditional Literary Roles,” on  June 21st at 7:00 PM at The Open Book in Minneapolis. 2011 Hal Grutzmacher Writers’ Expose

“Painter, Painter,” a short story by Cynthia Kraack, received second place in the annual fiction contest which draws submissions from across the country.

Bemidji Library Book Festival 2011

Cynthia Kraack joined thirteen writers and poets for a week of readings and presentation in Bemidji, MN for the annual Bemidji Library Book Festival.  About forty-five people attended a presentation about speculative fiction and reading from Minnesota Coldheld at the Headwaters School of Music and Arts.
